Siyao Zhang

Siyao was born and raised in northwest China, an area that she sees familiarly reflected in the environment and atmosphere of Eastern Washington. She received her Bachelors of Architecture at Tsinghua University in Beijing before moving to the United States and earning her Masters in Architecture at the University of Michigan. Working on diverse projects, including libraries, private homes, and everything in-between, Siyao draws inspiration from the contrasting environments of China and Seattle, and has a passion for the vernacular and traditions of each.

In her spare time, Siyao enjoys playing film scores on piano and illustrating natural and imagined scenery in watercolor.
